Quick Writes Term 4

We have been working on quick writes. This is where you are given something to write about ( a writing prompt) and you only have 10 minutes to write as much as possible using the writing prompt. For our writing prompts we use either pictures or short videos.

1) FIREWORKS

SMOKEY FIREWORKS

As I walked into the museum,  cloudy orange fireworks burst above my upoko(head). The heavy dense orange cloud of smoke was as thick as a raw cookie dough. I was lost and blinded straight away but I could hear the crowd shouting in amazement. The smell of the fireworks was burnt and smoky in the still warm raumati (summer) air. I tried to touch the smoke but it was like my hand was going through air! All I could taste was burnt air like a cake that a bad cook burnt.

2) TOMATO PULP

As I throw a heavy large tomato at a stranger someone else throws a small, squishy super ripe tomato straight at me. It hits me full in the face with a loud SPLAT! It feels like a water poihau (balloon) being dropped on me with great force. The red juice streams down my face and down my body. I am absolutely covered in it! All I can hear is the noise of hard and soft tomato’s hitting people and people screaming with fun. I think in my head “how long will I have to shower before the smell and redness comes off me?” I am having so much fun!

3) SPIDERMAN

THE SPIDER MAN PARADE

As I stand on the grey grotty street I see cars,  buses and trucks whizzing by. I am here for the spider man parade. It is said to be the best in the world so I am nei (here). I can smell petrol and the lovely smell of food. The smell is as mixed as a bowl of boiling soup. I think “how long will the parade go on for”. Suddenly spider man jumps into a pool of confetti and it goes every where. I can hear the shouting of the crowd egging spider man on. I am NOT a fan of spider man and only came here to see the colourful parade. I ended up loving it!

4) STORMY DAY

THE STORMIEST STORM IN THE WORLD!

As I walk outside the wind starts whistling and the rain comes smashing through the sky. It is as crazy as a raiona (lion) being woken up in the middle of its sleep. Kei te pupuhi tē hau ( the wind is blowing.) The waves crash wildly against the shore as I run down the muddy maku( wet) street to try and find shelter. Tāwhirimatea suddenly booms on his drum and the sky crashes with the ao (bright) stage lights! The howling wind wraps me in a cold hug that brings me to the Moana. I sit on the beach and listen to the waves pounding and breaking on the blowing sand. It is absolutely crazy and wild!
